In a landmark move set to redefine football sponsorship in the country, Orange Sierra Leone has signed a historic sponsorship agreement worth over Two Hundred and Fifty Million Leones with the Sierra Leone Football Association in support of this year’s FA Cup competition.

The agreement, which rebrands the competition as the Orange FA Cup 2026, marks the first time in the history of Sierra Leonean football that a corporate institution has made such a significant financial commitment to the FA Cup.

Under the terms of the partnership, Orange Sierra Leone becomes the exclusive Title Sponsor of the competition, securing extensive branding rights and introducing a prestigious Man of the Match Award to recognize outstanding performances throughout the tournament.

Beyond financial support, Orange Sierra Leone is also investing in strengthening the operational capacity of the SLFA. The telecommunications giant will provide Closed User Group (CUG) mobile packages to SLFA staff, ensuring seamless internal communication across the Association. Additionally, the company will install 60 Mbps high-speed fibre internet connectivity at the SLFA Headquarters in Kingtom, a move expected to significantly enhance digital operations and administrative efficiency.

As part of its broader fan engagement strategy, Orange Sierra Leone is set to roll out a football-focused Value Added Service (VAS) platform and innovative digital engagement initiatives. These include the integration of Orange Money for ticket sales, player bonuses, and secure cashless transactions, a development aimed at modernizing matchday experiences and bringing supporters closer to the action.

The sponsorship agreement was formally signed at the Orange Conference Hall, Hill Station, Freetown, by SLFA President Babadi Kamara and Orange Sierra Leone Chief Executive Officer Aicha Touré.

The ceremony was witnessed by Minister of Sports Augusta James-Teima and Dr. Abdulrahman Swarray, Deputy Executive Director of the National Sports Authority, who represented the Government of Sierra Leone.

Also present were SLFA Vice Presidents Mr. Alie Badara Tarawallie (VP1) and Mr. Prince Saquee (VP2), alongside Executive Committee members Mr. Kweku Melvin Sheldon Lisk and Mr. Foday Anthony.

The partnership underscores Orange Sierra Leone’s growing role in national development through sports investment and corporate social responsibility. It also aligns with the broader transformation agenda of SLFA President Babadi Kamara, who has prioritized enhancing the commercial appeal and professional image of football in Sierra Leone within a short period of his administration.

With the launch of the Orange FA Cup 2026, stakeholders anticipate a more competitive, digitally driven, and professionally branded tournament that reflects a new era for Sierra Leonean football.
