The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has announced that its Referees Manager, Sanusie Rashid, has received a continental appointment from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Mr. Rashid has been selected to serve as Referee Assessor for the CAF Confederation Cup match between Singida Black Stars of Tanzania and Association Sportive de Otoho of Congo. The fixture is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 25 January 2026.

The role of a Referee Assessor is a critical one within CAF competitions, involving the evaluation of match officials’ performance in line with CAF’s refereeing standards and regulations. Such assessments contribute to maintaining consistency, professionalism, and integrity in officiating across African club competitions.

According to the SLFA, the appointment reflects Mr. Rashid’s extensive experience in refereeing administration and his long-standing contribution to the development of match officials in Sierra Leone. It also highlights CAF’s confidence in his technical expertise and professional judgment.

The SLFA further noted that this appointment represents continued continental recognition for Sierra Leonean football administrators, particularly in the area of refereeing, and reinforces the country’s presence within CAF competitions beyond on-field participation.

Mr. Rashid’s engagement in the CAF Confederation Cup is expected to further strengthen collaboration between Sierra Leonean football authorities and continental governing bodies, while also contributing to the overall improvement of refereeing standards in the region.
