The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Referees Committee has suspended referee Ibrahim Turay, also known as “Curve Taker,” for four months following a review of his officiating during the match between Diamond Stars and Lauwa FC on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the Koidu City Playing Field in Kono.
In a meeting held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, the Committee analyzed video footage of the game and determined that the penalty awarded to Diamond Stars was unjustified.
This suspension is part of the SLFA’s on-going efforts to uphold the integrity and fairness of football in the country. The Association reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all matches are officiated with the highest levels of professionalism and accountability.
“The SLFA takes these matters seriously and will continue to take appropriate action to ensure fair play in the beautiful game,” the Association stated.
The suspension is effective immediately. Referee Turay will be barred from officiating until May 2025.
The SLFA expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their continued support in maintaining high standards in Sierra Leonean football.
