The Ethics Board of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has given the green light to Thomas Daddy Brima and Aminata Bangura to contest for the presidency of the Association on August 2 in Lungi Port Loko District.
Brima and Bangura were rumoured to be disqualified by the Committee on Friday based on a pending court case and fraud. However, the Committee found out that the allegations were untrue after investigations. The Committee made this revelation during its integrity assessment and petition hearings for the pair and 13 individuals vying for executive positions ahead of the SLFA Elective Congress in Lungi.
Chaired by legal practitioner Abu-bakarr Sheriff, the Board was constituted in accordance with Articles 60 and 63 of the SLFA Constitution and mandated to assess the moral and ethical fitness of all aspiring candidates, as stipulated under Article 32(2) of the Constitution and Article 19 of the SLFA Ethics Code (2020).
Following the call for nominations, the acting General Secretary submitted the names of 15 aspirants for positions ranging from President to Ex-Officio Members. Integrity check forms were distributed, interviews were conducted, and petitions were invited and reviewed. 10 petitions were received targeting several candidates, though some were later dismissed for lack of evidence or failure to appear.

Musu Bangura – All cleared with no adverse findings.
Two Ex-Officio candidates — Kweku Melvin Sheldon Lisk and Ramatulai Kamara — faced petitions primarily over nomination procedures and allegations of misconduct. However, after review, both were also cleared to contest.
The Board emphasised that all candidates had signed affidavits affirming their good character and commitment to SLFA values. The Committee maintained that its findings were guided by the principle of “comfortable satisfaction,” a standard of proof lower than beyond reasonable doubt but higher than mere probability.
With this ruling, the Ethics Board has officially approved all 15 candidates to participate in the upcoming SLFA Elective Congress. The decision marks an important step in upholding transparency, accountability, and integrity within the country’s football governance structure.
