Sierra Leone’s former national team captain, Steven Caulker, has officially joined Turkish TFF First League club Keçiörengücü (Ankara-KG). The 32-year-old centre-back signed a one-year contract with an option for a second year, marking a new chapter in his professional career.

Caulker’s journey to Ankara-KG adds to his diverse footballing résumé. Born in England, he began his professional career with Tottenham Hotspur in 2009. During his early years, Caulker was loaned to Yeovil Town, Bristol City, and Swansea City, where he made his Premier League debut. His time at Swansea was particularly notable, as it led to his selection for the Great Britain squad at the 2012 Olympics.

Since then, Caulker has had stints with several clubs across England and abroad, including Cardiff City, Queens Park Rangers, Liverpool, Dundee, and Alanyaspor. His versatility and experience have made him a valuable asset on the field.

In addition to his club commitments, Caulker has made a significant impact on the international stage. Though born in England and having represented England at the youth and senior levels, he switched allegiance to Sierra Leone in 2021. Since then, he has captained the national team, bringing leadership and stability to the squad.

Caulker’s move to Keçiörengücü comes at a time when the club is looking to bolster its squad ahead of the upcoming season. His signing is expected to strengthen their defensive lineup and bring a wealth of experience to the team. The club’s management expressed their excitement over the acquisition, noting Caulker’s leadership qualities and solid defensive skills.
