The President of the Sierra Leone Tennis Association, Kelvin Ezekiel Kellie and a cross-section of his executive members have on Saturday, February 11th 2023 kicked-off his nationwide tour in Makeni, Northern region.
According to President Kellie, the crux of the tours is to revive tennis in the provinces after it was greatly affected by the Corona Virus pandemic, adding before his visit to Makeni his administration support the district executive to rehabilitate the Wusum field court.
He noted that the association has taken the drive to make the sports accessible to children by working with various schools and catching them when they are young. He also encouraged girls to surmount the barriers that have been preventing them over the years from playing tennis.
The Tennis Association President also provided tennis equipment to the regional and district association and the event was centered on a series of competitions organised for different categories.
He concluded that the next stop of his nationwide tour will be in the Southern Region, which is scheduled for next week.
Kellie disclosed that the major funding for all these activities is the executive committee and ended by calling for collaborative support from all members of the association
“It doesn’t mean you should only be an executive member to make the change needed, all of us should come on board and improve tennis in Sierra Leone,” President Kellie ascribed.
