The Sierra Leone Under-17 Women’s National Team, Young Lionesses has completed its final training session and will depart for Ivory Coast on Tuesday morning to compete in the first preliminary round of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
The team will face Ivory Coast in a double-header, with both matches being hosted in the Ivorian capital of Yamoussoukro.
The first leg is scheduled for April 12, 2026, followed by the return leg on April 17.



Following an intense final drill, Head Coach Fatmata Turay expressed confidence in the squad’s readiness. She praised the young athletes for their strong commitment and impressive performances throughout the preparation phase, noting that morale and unity within the camp remain exceptionally high.
The team heads into the upcoming matches aiming to secure a victory against Ivory Coast and advance to the next stage of the international qualification tournament.
