Veterans Ex-Pro and Goderich Veterans will on Saturday, 24th December 2022 at the Casablanca field in Goderich opposite Chambers Church in the country’s capital Freetown kick off the 2022/23 annual Veterans Unite Football Tournament which is also the seventh edition.

According to NewsFeed Sierra Leone Ahmad Sasso the founder of the Sierra Leone Veterans Unite tournament and a coach in the United States of America stated that this year’s edition which is always providing an avenue for interaction for the old players based at home and in the diaspora fostering unity is in honour of the late Lamin Conteh alias Junior Tumbu who has been playing an active role in the previous editions but passed away in May this year “Tournament this year is in honour of our late brother Lamin Junior Tumbu Conteh” he disclosed.

Ahmad Sasso played a vital role for one of his former clubs Old Edwardians FC from being relegated to a division one side during his short spell as Vice Chairman of the team in the previous league season added that the 2022/23 edition of the tournament featured twenty teams and four will qualify from each group for the round sixteen “Twenty teams featuring four groups with five teams each and 4 will go through for final 16” he concluded.
