Freetown City Council (FCC) Councillors have completed a week-long computer literacy training programme aimed at improving their digital skills and enhancing their ability to serve their communities more efficiently.
The training, which included the use of the Microsoft Office suite, forms part of FCC’s Transform Freetown Transforming Lives agenda, which focuses on expanding access to digital skills.
Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr said the initiative was an important step towards strengthening the capacity of FCC Councillors.

“Our Transform Freetown Transforming Lives agenda has a focus on expanding access to digital skills. I am therefore really pleased that FCC Councillors have just completed a week-long computer literacy course that included the use of Microsoft Office suite. Glad to be strengthening the ability of FCC Councillors to more efficiently serve their communities,” Mayor Aki-Sawyerr said.
She also expressed appreciation to SBTS Group, an FCC tenant on the second floor that utilises the FCC computer lab space, for providing the training free of charge.
The completion of the training highlights FCC’s continued efforts to promote digital inclusion and equip local representatives with the necessary skills to improve service delivery across Freetown.
