The new Commissioner of the Electoral Commission Sierra Leone (ECSL), Albert Samba Kanu has taken his oath of office at State House.

Commissioner Kanu appreciated the President for the trust reposed in him. He added that he will work according to the law citing the importance of his task ahead. He promised to work on behalf of the nation as the country closes to the June elections.

In response, President Julius Maada Bio congratulated Kanu and stated the significance of his job. He also took the advantage to admonish citizens to be law-abiding during and after the elections.

“Elections should be peaceful, and the rules should be clear to all citizens. It is the responsibility of the National Electoral Commission to ensure the rules are clear for all to understand,” the President said.

President Bio also advised agents of election violence to desist from the act or risk facing the “full force of the law.”

The northwest region is inclusive of two districts including Port Loko, Kambia and Karene.
