The government of Sierra Leone is set to replace several key ferry crossing points across the country with modern two-lane bridges, in a move aimed at improving transportation, connectivity, and safety for road users.
According to official sources, the procurement process and awarding of contracts to qualified construction companies is 90% complete, and construction works are expected to commence shortly.
The ferry points scheduled for transformation include:

Once completed, the two-lane bridges will significantly reduce travel delays, enhance regional trade routes, and improve emergency access for remote communities.
This major infrastructure upgrade is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to modernize Sierra Leone’s road network and boost rural development.
