Isata Bindi appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on Friday, July 19, 2025, on a charge of allegedly stabbing her husband, Mustapha Bangura, to death.

She is facing one count of manslaughter, contrary to law.

The incident reportedly happened on May 13, 2025, at Aberdeen Road in Freetown, where the victim was fatally injured during a domestic altercation. According to a report by A-Z Newspaper, the accused did not enter a plea due to the seriousness of the charge, as manslaughter is considered an indictable offence and can only be tried in the High Court.

During the brief court session, Prosecutor ASP Ibrahim Mansaray informed the magistrate that he had only recently received the case file. He also noted that the key witnesses were not available in court. Given these circumstances, the prosecution requested additional time to prepare the case. Magistrate Jah granted the request, and the matter was adjourned to Monday, July 21, 2025, for further proceedings.

Court documents revealed that Bindi and Bangura were legally married and lived together with their two children. Both were originally from Bo District, where their relationship started before moving to Freetown. The documents also stated that the couple had a history of frequent disagreements, and at the time of the incident, they were no longer on speaking terms.

On the day of the alleged crime, a domestic argument reportedly escalated, resulting in Bindi allegedly using a sharp object to stab her husband.

The injury proved fatal, and Bangura was later confirmed dead. The specific circumstances leading to the altercation are still under investigation.
