The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has officially confirmed receipt of a joint petition filed by the President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Thomas Daddy Brima, and SLFA presidential aspirant, Madam Aminata Bangura.
The petition, submitted by two internationally recognized sports lawyers, challenges the controversial decision made by the SLFA Ethics Committee to disqualify both Brima and Bangura from contesting the upcoming SLFA elective congress.
According to legal representatives of the two candidates, the disqualification was based on what they described as “baseless and unfounded accusations.” They argue that the ruling violates key provisions of the SLFA Statutes, CAF regulations, and the FIFA Code of Ethics.
In a parallel move, both Brima and Bangura have also appealed the disqualification to the SLFA Appeals Committee, while simultaneously seeking justice at the international level through CAS.
Recognized as the world’s highest legal authority in sports-related disputes, CAS decisions are final and binding.
Thomas Daddy Brima was last week disqualified from seeking re-election in the upcoming August 2nd polls.
His name was conspicuously absent from the final list of candidates released for the election.
The list also shows the disqualification of Ms. Aminata Bangura, the sole female candidate in the forthcoming election.
