A situation involving an alleged diamond has caused tension and confusion in Roborssor Village after a local farmer claimed to have found the stone, which later went missing.
Fatmata Sankoh, a farmer in the village, is said to have discovered the stone while working on her land. Believing it could be a diamond, she shared it with Alias Wanda, a local youth. Wanda then took the stone to Yusif Tarawallie, a man known for his experience in diamond mining, who had come from Kono District.
Wanda maintains that Tarawallie confirmed the stone was a diamond. However, Tarawallie denies making any such confirmation. Information gathered during this report reveals that Tarawallie travelled to Freetown with the stone and showed it to a relative. That relative, according to sources close to the matter, is now trying to keep the issue quiet and is reportedly using traditional methods to keep it from spreading further.
Since then, the stone has not been seen again. Tarawallie has not produced it, and his silence has raised concerns among residents of the village. Many believe the stone was a genuine diamond, while others remain uncertain due to the lack of proof.
The matter has divided the community. Some villagers are openly discussing their beliefs, while others are waiting for more clarity. The issue comes at a time when Roborssor has recently been named as a mineral-rich location, with interest in the area growing. Plans for future exploration now appear to be on hold as a result of the current dispute.
There has been no official statement from local authorities.
