Sierra Leone’s Men’s National Kabaddi Team is set to make history as one of 18 nations competing at the inaugural Beach Kabaddi World Cup, scheduled from September 23 to 28, 2025.

Representing Africa alongside Kenya, Tanzania, and Burundi, Sierra Leone will be among just four African countries battling for continental pride in this exciting new global tournament.

While the men’s competition features a robust field of 18 teams, the women’s division will see 12 nations compete. Unfortunately, Sierra Leone will not be represented in the female category, with only two African countries having qualified in the women’s bracket.

Tournament organizers have announced that the official draw ceremony will be held on August 23, 2025, at the prestigious Glory Beach Resort. Teams are encouraged to send representatives at their own expense.

Player rosters can be updated up until August 15, 2025; after this deadline, changes will only be permitted with valid medical documentation and will incur additional costs for the respective teams.

Under the experienced guidance of Coach Sonny Johnson, Sierra Leone’s Kabaddi team is currently undergoing rigorous training to prepare for their debut on the international beach Kabaddi stage.

This landmark participation marks the first time Sierra Leone will compete in a beach Kabaddi tournament, highlighting a major milestone for the sport’s development in the country.

As anticipation builds, Kabaddi fans across Sierra Leone are hopeful that the team’s hard work and dedication will translate into a strong showing at the World Cup and pave the way for greater growth of the sport nationally.
