Three police officers have been dismissed from the Sierra Leone Police Force due to their alleged involvement in an armed robbery that took place in Rokel Community, located east of Freetown.

This action is part of ongoing efforts to hold those responsible for the crime accountable and to maintain discipline within the police force.

According to Awoko Newspaper, the Head of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Assistant Commissioner of Police Allieu Jalloh, provided the information during a press briefing held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the Police Officers’ Mess in Kingtom. The announcement detailed the dismissal of the three officers who are suspected of participating in the robbery.

The prime suspect in the case is James Tucker, widely known by the nickname “Jaga Jaga.” He, along with two other former officers who were recently dismissed, are currently in custody. The three individuals allegedly carried out the armed robbery on Saturday, August 2, 2025, in Rokel Community. Reports indicate that the suspects were armed with guns and other dangerous weapons. During the robbery, they disguised themselves as police officers conducting an anti-drug operation.

Residents of the Rokel Community reportedly resisted the operation, stating that they were not involved in any illegal drug activity. This resistance led to a confrontation between the residents and the suspects. According to eyewitness accounts, the situation escalated quickly, with the suspects overpowering the residents and seizing cash and other valuables from them before fleeing the scene.

Police records show that James Tucker was formerly a member of the Anti-Robbery Unit before being transferred to the Mountain Division. After his transfer, it was reported that Tucker stopped attending his duty posts. Furthermore, he allegedly recruited other officers to participate in criminal activities, according to police investigations.

The dismissal of the officers is seen as part of efforts to restore public trust in the police force. This move aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16, which focuses on promoting peace, justice, and strong institutions in communities worldwide.

The police continue to investigate the case, and the accused officers are expected to face charges in court once the probe is completed.
