The newly appointed Regional Police Commander South, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Andrew M. Kamara, has set the tone for his leadership with a strong call for discipline, teamwork, and renewed commitment among officers under his command.
In his maiden engagement with frontline commanders at the Regional Police Headquarters South, AIG Kamara convened a meeting with divisional and unit heads, including the Local Unit Commanders of Bo East and Bo West.
The session, moderated by Deputy Regional Commander Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Fatmata Jebeh Daboh Kamara, provided an opportunity to review ongoing security operations and outline expectations going forward.
During his address, AIG Kamara was firm in his message: “I do not need lazy police officers. What we need is teamwork and total commitment. No commander will succeed without working as a team.” He reminded officers that safeguarding the reputation of the Sierra Leone Police is a collective responsibility and stressed the importance of intelligence-sharing, loyalty to the chain of command, and community-oriented policing.
The Local Unit Commanders and other heads present briefed the new regional boss on their current operations and pledged their full cooperation. Drawing from his years of policing experience, AIG Kamara encouraged his colleagues to serve with integrity and a clear conscience, noting that the people of the Southern Region deserve peace and security.
In his closing remarks, he underscored the urgency of addressing violent crimes: “I don’t want to hear about any armed robbery issues in this region. Directives from Inspector General of Police, Mr. William Fayia Sellu, must be fully implemented. Let us work as one family to protect the good image of this institution.”
The meeting, which marked AIG Kamara’s first major engagement in the region, signaled his determination to build a united, disciplined, and proactive police force committed to ensuring safety and stability in the South.
