Former SLFA President Criticizes August Congress, Calls Electoral Process “Rogue Stage-Managed Concert”

Thomas Daddy Brima, former President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), has criticized the August 2 SLFA Congress, describing the electoral process as a “rogue stage-managed concert.”

Speaking on the Truth Morning Devotion program, Brima accused the organizers of conducting the elections in a “rogue and unrighteous” manner. He added, however, that despite his anger, he would not interfere with the new SLFA administration for the sake of the country’s peace and football development.

The August election saw Babadi Kamara elected SLFA President with 43 votes, defeating Aminata Bangura, who secured 11 votes. The elections were monitored by representatives from FIFA, WAFU Zone A, the Ministry of Sports, and the National Sports Authority. Despite concerns raised about the process, the SLFA electoral committee proceeded with the poll.

Brima emphasized that his disagreement with Kamara should not be seen as personal animosity. “Babadi Kamara cannot be my enemy, and respect remains, even amid political fallout,” he said.

Addressing the transition committee’s report, which highlighted financial and administrative gaps—including the alleged disappearance of a government grant worth NLe 720 million and unresolved procurement contracts—Brima questioned the report’s credibility. “You didn’t listen to my side before publishing the report,” he stated.

He further urged members of the committee to respect his reputation and refrain from issuing false claims, warning that he would respond firmly if provoked
