Leader of the newly established Liberation People’s Party (LPP), Pastor Mohamed Samuel Kamara, has explained the reasons behind his decision to enter politics.
Speaking in an interview on Ecko Media Online TV, Kamara said he received a spiritual conviction while in the United States, which prompted him to return to Sierra Leone and pursue a career in politics.
He explained that following the experience, he consulted some of his spiritual fathers, who advised him to pray and seek further guidance before making a decision.
Kamara said he was also informed about the lengthy process involved in registering a political party. According to him, he entrusted the registration process to people close to him, who successfully handled it within a short period.
He further disclosed that his father had experienced a similar dream and encouraged him to respond to what he described as a call from God, despite his father’s dislike for politics. Kamara added that his father eventually retired from the Sierra Leone Police to support his political calling.
Kamara also disclosed that he will turn 40 in November, which he said makes him eligible to contest the presidency.
He stressed the importance of youth participation in national leadership, saying young people have a significant role to play in shaping the country’s future.
According to Kamara, the LPP will reject what he described as empty political promises and instead develop its manifesto based on the concerns and priorities of communities across Sierra Leone.
