Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Sylvester M.N. Koroma, Regional Commander Freetown West, has intervened to calm rising tensions between Prince of Wales and Albert Academy secondary school students following social media posts suggesting plans for interschool violence.

A viral video circulating online claimed that groups of students from both schools were preparing for physical confrontations, prompting immediate action by the Sierra Leone Police.

In response, AIG Koroma, accompanied by senior officers, visited both schools with Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) John Fayiah Tumbay, Local Unit Commander of the Central Police Division, and Mr. Simeon Bai Sesay, a PROSEC representative.

Addressing students directly, AIG Koroma warned that any involvement in violence, on or off school grounds, would result in a police inquiry and potential prosecution. He urged students to resist peer pressure, report any threats, and prioritize discipline and education.

To prevent further unrest, AIG Koroma announced an increased police presence around both schools. He emphasized the importance of partnerships between schools and law enforcement to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment.

During meetings with school staff, the Regional Commander proposed reviving anti-violence clubs as a long-term measure to reduce school-related conflicts.

He strongly condemned the possession of firearms and illegal substances on school premises, warning that violators would face serious disciplinary and legal consequences.

According to the Sierra Leone Police, the action demonstrates their continued commitment to protecting young people, reducing violence, and promoting safer school communities.
