The Environment Protection Agency of Sierra Leone (EPA-SL) has warmly welcomed a high-powered delegation from the Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia (EPA-Liberia) to foster stronger collaboration in addressing pressing environmental challenges across the subregion.
The delegation, led by Anthony S. Kollie, Acting Deputy Executive Director of EPA-Liberia, is in Sierra Leone for a week-long exchange visit aimed at deepening bilateral ties through shared experiences and innovative environmental solutions.
During the visit, the team is scheduled to pay courtesy calls on the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and other allied ministries to discuss strategies for strengthening cooperation between the two nations.
The programme features a series of technical sessions focusing on key areas such as climate change adaptation, biodiversity conservation, waste and chemical management, compliance monitoring, and public awareness strategies.
Discussions will also explore multilateral environmental processes, including the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), and biodiversity strategies, as well as commitments under global treaties such as the Montreal Protocol.
The exchange visit offers the Liberian delegation an opportunity to learn from Sierra Leone’s environmental programmes and policy frameworks. It is expected to enhance technical capacity, strengthen environmental governance, and pave the way for joint initiatives between the two agencies
