His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio has declared great success in the government’s agricultural program, Feed Salone, focusing on demonstrable rises in local food production as part of a larger push for national food sovereignty.

Posted on his official Facebook page, President Bio stated that the program is “transforming ambitions into reality,” with a clear focus on improving yields and lowering reliance on imported food.

He stated that the country is beginning to see the results of continuous efforts in the availability of “fresh, nutritious, home-grown rice” in communities.

“We’re cultivating our lands and cutting down rice imports with our fresh, nutritious home-grown rice.

“This weekend, I visited my rice farm in Tihun and I am truly convinced that our success in developing the perfect seed for high yields will revolutionize our harvest and propel Feed Salone to new heights.”

The Feed Salone program seeks to develop Sierra Leone’s agriculture sector by encouraging sustainable farming practices and empowering local producers.

According to the president’s Facebook post, the project is showing results that are consistent with its main objectives of increasing productivity and ensuring food security.

The government’s communication shows a growing confidence in the program’s trajectory. The greater availability of locally produced rice is seen as a step toward long-term economic resilience and improved nutrition for Sierra Leoneans.
