Roseline Mariam Jalloh of the Modern Academy Senior School of Excellence has emerged as the best-performing candidate in the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), according to official results released by the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) this week.

Jalloh sat nine subjects and excelled academically, earning four A1s (Excellent), three B2s (Very Good), and two B3s (Good), achieving a cumulative grade point average of 1.78 the highest among all candidates nationwide.

She was closely followed by Russell Afwa Jemis of the International Secondary School, Freetown, who obtained six A1s, two B3s, and one C5, with an average grade unit of 1.89, securing the second position in the national ranking.

The announcement of Jalloh’s achievement has drawn widespread praise from educators, parents, and the public, who described her performance as a testament to diligence, focus, and academic excellence.

The Modern Academy Senior School of Excellence has also been recognized for its commitment to nurturing high-performing students and fostering a culture of academic excellence.

Minister Conrad Sackey encouraged all candidates to collect their results from designated centers and use the outcomes to inform further academic pursuits and career advancement.

He also highlighted the total number of students registered for the 2025 WASSCE: 148,362, comprising 66,689 boys and 81,673 girls from 886 schools across 335 examination centers.
