The Freetown City Council FCC has provided evidence of its claim of 220 Kush-related dead bodies collected across the city after the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs formally demanded that Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr provide verifiable evidence to support her claim made on national television.
According to the FCC’s response addressed to the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, the council acknowledged the gravity of the concern and the importance of providing verifiable information to support the government effort in addressing the Kush crisis.
FCC provided a spreadsheet that provides detailed information on the corps collected between January to October 8 2025, with date of collection, location, gender, and burial disposition.
According to the FCC, a total of 220 corpses were recorded in the streets of Freetown, with 50 claimed by family members and 170 buried by the council.

Mayor Have reduced the amount because you are late to collect your details, i wish you would have started it the very moment it begins then the government would’ve say you manipulated the figures or they will say you won to sabotage the Government
Did the medical Doctors find out that these people died of Kush before they were buried? Just asking
Compulsve liar Mayor Avon Aki Sawyer, aka Emmanuala, known for her famous ‘blood all over the streets of Freetown” can hardly be closer to truth about anything under the Red Sun
The way she spoke about the 220 deaths on the street of the dirty City was like in a month exaggerating to defame the seating government. She’s dishonest, liar n deceitful
Collective efforts should be made in controlling the rampant abuse of destructive of illicit drugs in Sierra Leone.
This should be the responsibility of both the central and local governments that includes the Freetown City Council and the National Police Force. The Judiciary has a major role to play in expediting trial related to the production of kush and other illegal substances.
