The Officer-in-Charge of the Government Community Health Centre (CHC), commonly known as Welbodi, and Chiefdom Health Supervisor for the 12 Peripheral Health Units (PHUs) in Kori Chiefdom, Moyamba District, Jusu Sillah, has provided an update on the overall health situation in the chiefdom.
Speaking to a Kori Radio reporter on Sunday, August 16, 2026, Sillah said there are several indicators used to assess the health status of a community, with immunisation coverage being one of the key measures used by the Ministry of Health.
According to him, the Ministry sets immunisation targets for communities across the country, and Kori Chiefdom has consistently met its targets.
Sillah disclosed that Kori Chiefdom currently has 12 PHUs, while plans are underway to construct another health facility at Kpendebu Village. If completed, he said, the number of PHUs in the chiefdom will increase to 13.
On staffing, the Chiefdom Health Supervisor acknowledged that some health facilities may still require additional personnel. However, he said all 12 PHUs currently have staff providing services, including during weekends.
He further disclosed that the Waima PHU had previously experienced staffing challenges, but the situation has improved following the deployment of an additional staff member to the facility.
Sillah said the continued expansion of health facilities and efforts to address staffing gaps are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen primary healthcare delivery and improve access to health services across Kori Chiefdom.
