In a hearing at Pademba Road Court No. 2, the prosecution presented detailed testimony implicating 43-year-old Bilkisul Kallon in an alleged act of violence against her neighbor.

Hassan Koroma, a motor mechanic and husband of the complainant, Isata Mansaray, testified that on October 2, 2025, after returning home from work, he was informed by his mother-in-law that his wife had gone to visit a friend. Later that evening, Mansaray returned and reported that Kallon, their neighbor and daughter of their landlord, had uprooted her crops.

Koroma said he advised his wife to avoid the defendant. The matter was later reported to Kallon’s cousin, known as Teacher, during which Kallon allegedly began hurling insults at Mansaray.

According to Koroma, Kallon then emerged carrying a mortar pestle. His wife attempted to remove it from her, which led to a scuffle. Another witness, Kadiatu, intervened, but Kallon allegedly struck Mansaray on the head with the pestle, causing a wound. Koroma pursued the accused, who reportedly struck him on the back before fleeing the scene.

Both the complainant and her husband later received medical attention and made statements at Akon Police Station.

During cross-examination, defense counsel A.E.M. Lukullay requested an adjournment to further question the witness. Magistrate John Manso Fornah refused bail, citing the seriousness of the charges, and remanded Kallon to the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.

The matter was adjourned to November 5, 2025, for further proceedings.
