The Border security agencies at the Jendema Border Crossing between Sierra Leone and Liberia have intensified operations, leading to a significant breakthrough on Sunday, November 16, 2025.

Two local residents, Alpha Jalloh and Mohamed Jalloh, were arrested after attempting to evade security personnel during a routine inspection.

According to officials, the suspects fled after being stopped at the checkpoint but were quickly pursued and apprehended by a combined security team, which included the Operational Support Division (OSD) officer attached to the National Revenue Authority (NRA) and personnel from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

A thorough search revealed 24 boxes and 8 cards containing a total of 2,480 Tapentadol tablets (250 mg each) a controlled and highly regulated substance. The suspects, along with the seized drugs, were immediately handed over to the Mano River Police Division and the NDLEA for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Security officials at the border praised the swift coordination and vigilance of the joint team, noting that the operation reaffirms the government’s unwavering commitment to combating illegal drug trafficking and strengthening border integrity.

They further expressed gratitude to all officers involved for their dedication to maintaining safety and order along the Sierra Leone Liberia frontier.

This latest arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of border authorities to curb the influx of illicit substances and protect communities from the dangers associated with drug trafficking.
