Sierra Leone has officially joined the global community in celebrating the 60th anniversary of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), marking six decades of continuous development partnership and progress in the nation.
The commemorative event was attended by high-ranking government officials, including the Chief Minister, various cabinet ministers, development partners, and representatives from civil society and the media.
During the ceremony, stakeholders reflected on the enduring collaboration between the government and the UNDP. Officials highlighted the agency’s pivotal role in strengthening governance, advancing human capital, and driving sustainable development initiatives across the country.

“Together, we continue to build resilience and pave the way for a more prosperous future for all Sierra Leoneans,” the UNDP noted in a statement regarding the milestone.
The organization’s presence in Sierra Leone was credited with driving initiatives that empower communities and foster inclusive growth. Key areas of impact cited included governance reforms and significant investments in education, health, and climate resilience.
As part of the 60th-anniversary reflections, the Government of Sierra Leone reaffirmed its commitment to the partnership, pledging to continue working with the UNDP and other stakeholders to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
