The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, on Thursday, January 15, 2025, departed Freetown for Rabat, Morocco, to attend the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2026 final and participate in high-level engagements with the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

President Kamara is expected to witness the AFCON 2026 final match between Senegal and host nation Morocco, one of the most anticipated fixtures on the African football calendar. His attendance forms part of SLFA’s broader effort to strengthen Sierra Leone’s visibility and influence within continental football circles.

Beyond the final, the SLFA President is scheduled to attend an in-person meeting on January 16, 2026, with the President of CAF alongside other Member Association Presidents. Discussions at the meeting are expected to center on the future of African football, development strategies, governance reforms, and collaborative initiatives aimed at advancing the sport across the continent.

President Kamara’s participation in both the AFCON final and the CAF leadership meeting notably reflects his commitment to ensuring Sierra Leone remains actively engaged in key decision-making processes within African football.
