Flagbearer Aspirant Ibrahim Bangura has described the recent ward elections of the All People’s Congress (APC) as a significant step toward strengthening internal party democracy, despite reported challenges in some areas.

Speaking after casting his vote, Dr. Bangura said he joined thousands of party members across the country in exercising their franchise. According to him, reports from his teams nationwide indicated a large and enthusiastic turnout, with members determined not only to vote but to defend their ballots.
“It was heartening to witness the level of commitment and participation,” he noted, emphasizing that the spirit displayed by party faithful reflects the vitality and resilience of the APC.

While acknowledging that there were hitches and disagreements in certain locations, Dr. Bangura maintained that such challenges were neither unexpected nor unique. He pointed to the legal, logistical, and administrative pressures surrounding the process, commending the party for moving forward with the elections despite those constraints.

He further stated that the party’s new constitution and its established organs had been tested under pressure but demonstrated capacity and commitment. “What we achieved today reassures us of our collective determination to strengthen internal democratic governance,” he said.
Dr. Bangura expressed gratitude to party officials, polling staff, volunteers, security personnel, and APC members nationwide for their resilience and dedication. He also voiced confidence that cancelled stations would have their elections conducted in line with party rules.

As the process continues, he urged party members and fellow aspirants to exercise restraint. “Internal competition must never turn into self-destruction,” he cautioned, discouraging anger and hostility that could tarnish the party’s public image.
Dr. Bangura concluded by expressing confidence that lessons learned from the early stages of the exercise would help consolidate the gains made and further strengthen the APC’s democratic structures.
