Renowned Sierra Leonean female rapper and politician of the All People’s Congress (APC), Natasha Beckley, on Monday, February 23, 2026, called attention to what she described as increasing cases of domestic abuse across the country.

In a statement issued on her official Facebook page, Beckley said she was compelled to speak out about the growing concern, stressing that violence in the home poses a serious threat to families and the wider society.

Today, I wish to draw attention to the increasing cases of domestic abuse in Sierra Leone,” she stated. “Violence in the home weakens not only families, but the very foundation of our society.”

Beckley, who is widely known both for her music career and her political involvement with the APC, appealed directly to men, urging them to protect their wives and uphold moral and religious responsibilities.

Husbands, protect your wives and remember Allah’s promises in the Qur’an,” she said. She further called for collective reflection and prayer for families across the country, emphasizing the need for love, mercy, patience and protection within homes.

Today we pray for all homes for love, mercy, patience, and protection. Ending domestic violence starts with me and you,” Beckley added.

Beckley’s remarks position her among voices advocating for stronger awareness and shared responsibility in addressing domestic violence, framing the issue as both a moral and societal challenge.
