A medical doctor was temporarily detained on the orders of Magistrate Julian Mary Gbloh during proceedings at Pademba Road Court No. 5 in Freetown, following what the court described as unruly conduct during a hearing in a protracted property dispute.

The matter before the court involves Victor Davies, Celia Davies, and Charles Davies, all of No. 7B May Street, Kingtom, Freetown, against Baba Shola Chinsman Hu of No. 47 Wellington Street, Freetown. The accused is facing two counts under the Devolution of Estate Act No. 21 of 2007.

According to the charge sheet, the first count alleges that between 23 August 2007 and 1 October 2025, the accused, as the sole surviving Executor and Trustee of the late Mrs. Amistricia Ainor Whitfield’s Will dated 14 July 1996, failed or refused to probate the Will and transfer the properties to the named beneficiaries, thereby denying them their lawful entitlements.

The second count accuses the defendant of unlawfully interfering with the estate of the deceased, allegedly affecting the rights and interests of the beneficiaries.

During the hearing, proceedings reportedly became tense when the accused allegedly engaged in a heated exchange with the presiding magistrate. Court officials stated that the magistrate ordered the accused to be placed temporarily in the court’s holding cell in an effort to restore order and maintain decorum in the courtroom.

The court later adjourned the matter, which remains under judicial consideration as the estate dispute continues.

No plea details or further rulings were disclosed at the time of reporting.
