Chairperson of the National Elections Watch Marcella Samba Sesay has revealed that she personally confronted the Sierra Leone Police during a tense incident when security forces were reportedly firing near the residence of Julius Maada Bio while in opposition.

Speaking to Liberty TV, Sesay stated that she warned the officers that any unlawful actions would be exposed internationally and that she would hold them accountable if they did not cease immediately.

“I made it clear that any illegal actions would not go unnoticed and would be pursued through every lawful channel,” Sesay emphasized.

During the interview, she stressed that she has never been affiliated with any political party, highlighting that her work over the past 15 years has been rooted in activism and building personal integrity.

She also addressed claims made by Hon Gevao, who alleged that the All People’s Congress (APC) was behind her appointment as the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) Boss.

Sesay categorically denied the claims and demanded a public retraction from the Member of Parliament, warning that legal action will be pursued if the statement is not withdrawn.

Sesay’s remarks underscore her commitment to neutrality, transparency, and accountability, reinforcing her reputation as an independent figure in Sierra Leonean public service.
