The Commissioner of Sierra Leone’s Anti-Corruption Commission, Francis Ben Kaifala, has commenced a regional tour in Northern Sierra Leone aimed at strengthening public awareness and reinforcing the national fight against corruption.

In line with the country’s cultural traditions, the Commissioner and his delegation began the tour with courtesy visits to respected traditional authorities in the region. The delegation paid visits to Paramount Chief Alie Balansama Marrah III and Paramount Chief Sheku Sinakalie Marrah IV, seeking their blessings and support ahead of the official engagements.

During the meetings, Commissioner Kaifala emphasized the importance of respecting traditional authority, noting that courtesy remains a vital part of Sierra Leone’s cultural heritage. He also requested the chiefs to offer prayers and intercede with the ancestors as the delegation embarks on what he described as a sacred mission to promote integrity and accountability across the country.

The tour forms part of the Commission’s broader efforts to engage communities and highlight the present and future direction of the anti-corruption drive in Sierra Leone under the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio.

The traditional leaders welcomed the Commissioner and his team and expressed their readiness to support initiatives that promote transparency, accountability, and good governance within their communities.

The Northern regional engagement is expected to include meetings with local stakeholders, community leaders, and residents as the Commission continues its campaign to strengthen public participation in the fight against corruption nationwide.
