The Union of Musicians All Stars Sierra Leone has announced that its President, Milton Koker, popularly known as Colabo, has voluntarily stepped down from his leadership position as the organization embarks on an institutional reform process aimed at restructuring its governance.
According to a public notice issued by the Union’s Elders Council, the affairs of the organization are currently being administered and supervised by the council in line with provisions of the Union’s constitution that guide leadership transitions or vacancies.
The statement noted that Koker’s resignation was made in support of efforts to strengthen the Union and ensure the establishment of transparent and democratic leadership structures within the organization. It further emphasized that the former president has cooperated fully with the reform initiative designed to reposition the Union and enhance its governance framework.
In accordance with the Union’s constitutional provisions, former presidents automatically qualify to serve as members of the Elders Council. As a result, Koker will now assume a role within the council, where he is expected to contribute to institutional oversight and provide guidance during the ongoing reform and transition period.
The Elders Council also disclosed that on 6 February 2026, it held extensive consultations involving former presidents, senior industry stakeholders, and the Union’s Grand Patrons to deliberate on a structured reform agenda for the organization.
Following these consultations, a Position Paper outlining the proposed reform framework and transition plan was circulated among members of the music industry. The document reportedly received majority endorsement and signatures from members, signaling collective support for the reform process and granting the Elders Council the mandate to supervise the transition.
The council further indicated that a Reform Committee, which will also function as the Interim Executive, will be formally announced in due course. The committee will be responsible for managing the transition and facilitating the emergence of a legitimate and democratically elected leadership for the Union.
Meanwhile, the Elders Council advised members of the public, stakeholders, and partners seeking to engage with the Union of Musicians All Stars Sierra Leone to channel official communication through the designated contact lines and email address provided by the council.
Until the interim body is officially announced, the Elders Council stated that it will continue to oversee the Union’s administrative affairs and provide strategic direction during the transition period.
