The Ministry of Youth Affairs Sierra Leone and SEND Sierra Leone have held strategic discussions aimed at strengthening collaboration on youth empowerment and development initiatives across the country.
The engagement was held on Friday, March 13, 2026, in Freetown, when a delegation from SEND Sierra Leone paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry, where both institutions exchanged ideas on advancing programs that support young people in Sierra Leone.
Welcoming the delegation on behalf of the Ministry, Director of Programs James Bondeva Sandi expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with development partners focused on improving opportunities for young people.

Sandi noted that partnerships with organizations such as SEND Sierra Leone are vital to expanding programs that support youth development and participation in national growth.
The delegation was led by the Country Director of SEND Sierra Leone, Ayamga Awimbora Joseph, who described the meeting as both timely and strategic. He highlighted the organization’s ongoing youth-centered initiatives, explaining that many of their current projects place strong emphasis on youth empowerment, participation, and capacity building.
According to Joseph, strengthening partnerships with government institutions remains key to ensuring that such programs effectively reach young people across the country.
Also speaking during the meeting, the Minister of Youth Affairs, Ibrahim Sannoh, commended SEND Sierra Leone for its continued efforts in promoting youth-led initiatives and community-driven development programs.

The Minister noted that such interventions align with the broader development vision of the Government led by Julius Maada Bio, particularly the flagship Human Capital Development Initiative, which prioritizes investments in people, especially young citizens.
Sannoh further emphasized the need for collaborative efforts in designing impactful programs that provide young people with practical opportunities and skills for the future.
He stressed that equipping young people with relevant skills is essential for sustainable national transformation and long-term development.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both the Ministry of Youth Affairs and SEND Sierra Leone expressing readiness to deepen their partnership and explore innovative initiatives aimed at expanding opportunities for Sierra Leone’s youthful population.
