Sierra Leone’s President, Dr. Julius Maada Bio on Friday called for national unity and stronger social cohesion as he joined Muslims in Sierra Leone to observe Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at the Presidential Lodge in Hill Station.
Marking the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan, the President hosted members of the Muslim community, religious leaders, and senior government officials in what he described as a moment of spiritual reflection and national solidarity.
In his Eid message, President Bio extended greetings to Muslims across the country and emphasized the importance of peace and togetherness.

“Eid Mubarak! Today, we stand in solidarity with our Muslim brothers and sisters to celebrate the completion of Ramadan,” he said. “I wish all families a blessed Eid filled with love and happiness. May our collective prayers for the nation be accepted.”
The President, accompanied by the First Family and top government officials, participated in the congregational prayers, noting that the end of Ramadan represents not only celebration but also a period of renewed commitment to shared national values.
He highlighted that the discipline, sacrifice, and mutual respect demonstrated during Ramadan offer an important foundation for strengthening Sierra Leone’s social fabric and advancing national development.

The gathering brought together a cross-section of society, including religious leaders and dignitaries, and served as a symbol of unity and shared faith. It also reflected the government’s continued emphasis on promoting compassion, inclusiveness, and collective progress.
Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the most significant events in the Islamic calendar, marks the conclusion of a month of fasting, prayer, and devotion observed by Muslims worldwide.
