A 28-year-old unemployed man, Sam Momoh, popularly known as “Mende Boy,” has been committed to the High Court by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown for the alleged murder of a staff member attached to the Office of the First Lady and adopted son of Sierra Leone’s First Lady.
The accused is facing two charges: conspiracy contrary to law and murder contrary to Section 1 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, as repealed and replaced by Section 1(a) of the Schedule of the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act, 2021 (Act No. 6 of 2022).
According to the charge sheet, the alleged offence occurred on Saturday, 24th January 2026, at Lodge Junction, Kingharman Road in the Western Urban Area of Freetown. Prosecutors allege that Momoh conspired with other persons unknown to commit a felony, namely murder.
The second count states that on the same date and at the same location, the accused allegedly murdered one Joshua Mansaray. When the charges were read and explained in court, no plea was taken from the accused.
During the committal proceedings, the prosecution led evidence through Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Tommy B. Zizer Esq. The second prosecution witness, Detective Police Constable 8826 Sulaiman Mukeh, also testified as part of the state’s case.
Following the preliminary hearing, Magistrate Jah committed the matter to the High Court for trial.
