An accountant, Alhaji Seray Bah, has been remanded in custody following his first court appearance over alleged theft involving a fuel card belonging to the Sierra Leone Mines and Minerals Development and Management Corporation.

Bah appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown on Tuesday, 31st March 2026, where he was charged with larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the prosecution, the alleged offence took place between May 2025 and March 2026 at No. 4 Dream Atlantic Villa Garden along Lumley Beach Road in the Western Area. It is alleged that Bah stole a fuel conex card belonging to the corporation.

Prosecutors further informed the court that the fuel card, bearing code number 020693, carried a total value of One Hundred and Fifty-Seven Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty Leones (Le157,860).

When the charge was read and explained in court, the accused pleaded not guilty.

Lead prosecutor, Inspector Mabel M. Tarawalie, Esq., presented a bundle of statements to the accused as part of the prosecution’s evidence in the matter.

In his ruling, Magistrate Jah cited the seriousness of the offence and denied bail, ordering that the accused be remanded in custody.

The case has been adjourned to 2nd April 2026 for further hearing.
