The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Sierra Leone has announced the launch of a new, user-friendly online Asset Declaration Portal, designed to streamline and simplify the asset declaration process for public officers in the country.

The move notably aims to improve compliance and efficiency in line with the commission’s mandate to promote transparency and accountability.

In a public notice issued on April 20, 2026, the ACC emphasized that all public officers are legally required to declare their income, assets, and liabilities.

This requirement is stipulated under Section 119 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, 2008, as amended in 2019. The law mandates that public officers submit their declarations within three months of taking office and subsequently every two years, with a final declaration upon leaving office.

The newly introduced online portal, developed in collaboration with the Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI), is expected to make the process more accessible and efficient for all public officers.

The ACC clarified that the asset declaration period for the 2026 Declaration Year will run from April 20 to July 20, 2026. This extension is a result of the time needed to complete the development of the new portal.

Public officers who are required to submit declarations include those in elective offices, individuals appointed by the President, and public officers in Grade 7 and above, as well as those below Grade 7 with fiduciary responsibilities.

In addition, teachers in government and government-assisted schools, including Principals, Vice Principals, Head Teachers, Deputy Head Teachers, and Bursars, are also mandated to comply.

Newly appointed or elected public officers, as well as those leaving office, are also required to submit their declarations within the designated period. The ACC made it clear that even public officers who had declared their assets in 2026 for the 2024 Declaration Year must still declare again for the 2026 Declaration Year.

All declarations must be submitted through the ACC’s official online platform at [www.anticorruption.gov.sl/assets.anticorruption.gov.sl](http://www.anticorruption.gov.sl/assets.anticorruption.gov.sl).

Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) are encouraged to facilitate the creation of official email accounts for new registrants to ensure easy access to the portal. Public officers who already have login credentials are advised to continue using their existing usernames and passwords.

The ACC also reminded public officers that failure to comply with the declaration requirements, or submitting false or misleading information, could result in administrative sanctions and other penalties as stipulated in Section 122A (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act.

The Commission’s latest initiative aims to bolster the fight against corruption in Sierra Leone, ensuring greater accountability among public servants and promoting transparency in government operations.
