Twenty-nine-year-old Joseph Macfoy, a driver, and thirty-four-year-old Abdul Rahman Jawara made another appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown on two-count charges.
The charges are Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, to wit Larceny by Servant, contrary to law, and Larceny by Servant, contrary to Section 17 (1) (a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, on Sunday, 8th March 2026, at Hill Station, Western Area in Freetown, the accused persons allegedly conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a felony, to wit Larceny by Servant.
The second count further stated that on the same date and at the same place, both defendants, being drivers employed by Maripoma Investment Sierra Leone Limited, allegedly stole one white Toyota Land Cruiser Hardtop with registration number AYJ 209, valued at forty-five thousand nine hundred and sixty-nine Euros (€45,969), equivalent to one million one hundred and eighty-five thousand three hundred and fifty-six Leones (Le1,185,356.00).
The vehicle was in the custody of Dominic Frimpong and is the property of Maripoma Investment Sierra Leone Limited.
When the charges were read and explained to both defendants, they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Mabel M. Trawallie, Esq., informed the court that she had served both defendants with copies of their statements.
Both defendants confirmed that they had received the statements.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Jah granted bail to the first defendant in the sum of Le1,000,000, with one surety in like sum. The surety must be a Sierra Leonean resident within the jurisdiction and must produce a valid identification card. Bail is to be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.
The second defendant was remanded in custody.
