The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has confirmed that three of its match officials have been appointed to officiate at the upcoming WAFU U-20 Women’s Tournament in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, scheduled to run from 1 to 20 May 2026.

The officials include FIFA-accredited referee Aminata Fullah, who will serve as a center referee, and assistant referee Agnes Gbla. They are joined by SLFA Referees Manager Alhaji Sanusie Rashid, who has been assigned the role of referees assessor for the competition.

According to the SLFA, the trio is already in Guinea-Bissau, where they have completed a mandatory pre-tournament training programme organized for match officials.

The course covered key aspects of modern officiating, including updates to the Laws of the Game, match analysis techniques, video-assisted assessments, and structured match preparation. Practical on-field sessions also formed part of the training.

Their successful completion of the course has led to their official appointments for the tournament, which will bring together youth women’s teams from across the West African region under the West African Football Union (WAFU).

The selection of the three officials is seen as part of Sierra Leone’s growing involvement in international football officiating, reflecting ongoing efforts to develop refereeing standards within the country.

The WAFU U-20 Women’s Tournament serves as a platform for emerging talent in women’s football across the region, while also providing match officials with exposure to competitive international fixtures.

The SLFA, in a statement, congratulated the officials on their appointments and expressed confidence in their ability to perform their duties with professionalism during the tournament.
