The Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) on Saturday concluded its week-long commemoration of International Nurses Week with a health walk aimed at promoting fitness, wellness, and healthcare awareness among staff and surrounding communities.
The exercise, which commenced at St. Helena School and ended at the SLPHA Car Park in Cline Town, was spearheaded by the Authority’s Medical Team under the direction and supervision of the Director of Technical Services, Eustace Rogers. The initiative formed part of efforts to encourage healthy living and reinforce the importance of healthcare within the workplace.
Activities marking the 2026 Nurses Week included the observance of International Hand Hygiene Day, routine health checks for staff and members of the port host community, as well as other wellness-focused engagements.
Speaking through their activities, nurses at the SLPHA Clinic used the occasion to promote workplace hygiene, regular physical exercise, teamwork, and increased awareness of personal health. The week also served as an opportunity to celebrate the dedication and invaluable contributions of nurses and healthcare workers to national development.
The Authority noted that the initiative aligns with its broader commitment to staff welfare, health promotion, and the maintenance of high public health standards within the port community.
