Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh, on Tuesday, 26 May, visited the Orange Digital Center Sierra Leone, where he reiterated the Government’s commitment to promoting innovation, digital inclusion, and youth empowerment through technology and skills development.

According to information provided by Orange Digital Center Sierra Leone, the Chief Minister was received by the Chief Executive Officer of Orange Sierra Leone, Madame Aicha Touré, alongside the Director of Orange Foundation and Orange Digital Center, Madame Annie Wonnie-Katta.

The visit focused on the role of innovation and digital education in advancing opportunities for young people and women across the country. During the tour, Chief Minister Sengeh engaged learners in several interactive sessions at the innovation hub and later held discussions with participants of the Python Programming for Women Programme.

Orange Digital Center Sierra Leone stated that the discussions highlighted the importance of equipping young people with digital and technological skills to prepare them for emerging opportunities in the digital economy.

Speaking during the engagement, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the Government’s support for initiatives aimed at fostering innovation and expanding digital access, particularly for women and young people. He emphasized the importance of technology and digital skills development in supporting Sierra Leone’s broader digital transformation agenda.

The visit also underscored ongoing collaboration between government institutions and private sector stakeholders in strengthening innovation ecosystems and promoting inclusive technological advancement in Sierra Leone.
