Former Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Isha Johansen has reflected on a renewed high-level engagement with former UK Prime Minister’s wife and human rights lawyer Cherie Blair, describing the moment as part of a broader journey of women leadership and influence on the global stage.
In a statement shared by Johansen, she noted that women leaders throughout history have consistently taken bold steps to reshape narratives and amplify their voices in areas of leadership, governance, and social change.

She recalled that a decade ago, she and Cherie Blair met on a global platform focused on “Game Changers,” where women in leadership discussed innovation, influence, and impact across different sectors, including sports and public service.
According to Johansen, the two figures met again yesterday in a private engagement hosted by Blair. During the meeting, Johansen signed a personal copy of her newly released book titled “The Uncommon Enemy,” which explores themes of resilience, leadership, and overcoming institutional and personal challenges.
The renewed interaction between the two women has been framed by Johansen as part of a continuing story of women’s empowerment and leadership visibility on the international stage.

Johansen also emphasized the importance of women supporting one another in leadership spaces, noting that such engagements help strengthen networks of influence across politics, law, sports, and governance.
The meeting comes as Johansen continues to promote her book and broader advocacy work centered on leadership, equity, and institutional reform within sports and beyond.
