The Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs (MoGCA) has received a joint courtesy visit from representatives of the Mano River Union Secretariat and the African Development Bank as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen regional collaboration on peace, security, resilience, and sustainable development.
The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Minister, Mr. Buakai Bindi Hindowa, and attended by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Aminata Sannoh; Chief Director, Mr. Charles Vandi; Acting Director of Gender Affairs, Mrs. Hannah Robinson; and Acting Director of Children’s Affairs, Mr. Daniel Albert Gbow.
Welcoming the delegation, Deputy Minister Hindowa expressed the Ministry’s appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing cooperation and strategic partnerships with both the Mano River Union Secretariat and the African Development Bank.
He emphasized that sustained collaboration remains essential in advancing gender equality, protecting children, and promoting lasting peace and sustainable development across the sub-region.

Discussions centred on the MRU Secretariat’s proposal to establish a Sub-Regional Observatory on Fragility and Resilience, an initiative aimed at consolidating peace, strengthening security, and enhancing resilience among Mano River Union member states.
The visit also provided an opportunity for the MRU Secretariat and the African Development Bank to formally brief the Government of Sierra Leone, through the Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs, on the proposed structure, objectives, and shared vision for the Fragility and Resilience Observatory.
Chief Director Charles Vandi welcomed the initiative and reiterated the Ministry’s support for partnerships that promote gender equality, safeguard the rights and well-being of children, and contribute to peace, resilience, and sustainable development across the sub-region.
The Ministry said it remains committed to fostering strategic collaborations that promote inclusive development, strengthen regional cooperation, and improve the lives of women, children, and vulnerable communities in Sierra Leone and across the Mano River Union.
