Former All People’s Congress (APC) Parliamentary leader, Ibrahim Bundu has raised concerns over Acting Chairman Ambassador Foday Yansaneh’s bid to become the party’s National Chairman, alleging that the party’s constitution is being violated.
Speaking on Liberty online TV, Bundu said his position was not based on any personal disagreement with Yansaneh but was driven by his desire to see the party’s rules and procedures respected.
“This is not my anger; this is my concern,” Bundu said, adding that he has the right to speak out because he believes the party’s laws must be followed.
Bundu explained that Yansaneh moved from the position of Secretary General to Deputy Leader and later became Acting Chairman following the illness of the late Minkailu Mansaray. He said concerns were raised by some party members over the changes at the time, but they decided not to pursue the matter further.
The APC stalwart also questioned Yansaneh’s current position, urging him to examine the issue himself, noting that as a lawyer, he understands legal matters and the importance of following established procedures.
Bundu maintained that his concerns are based on principles rather than personal differences, saying his focus is on ensuring that the party’s constitution is respected.
When asked whether he was backing another candidate for the National Chairman position, Bundu said his argument was not about supporting any individual but about ensuring the correct process is followed.
The APC is yet to officially respond to Bundu’s claims.
