All People’s Congress (APC) Parliamentary Leader Abdul Kargbo has rejected allegations that APC Members of Parliament were given new vehicles or other inducements in connection with the constitutional amendment process.
Kargbo made the clarification during an interview on Saturday, August 15, 2026, while responding to allegations that large sums of money and vehicles were allegedly offered to MPs during efforts to secure support for the proposed constitutional changes.
He said he had not seen any new vehicle being given to APC MPs and challenged anyone making such claims to provide evidence.
“If someone claims that an MP received a vehicle, let them provide evidence that the vehicle was given to that MP,” Kargbo said.
The APC Parliamentary Leader also denied personally receiving a vehicle in connection with the process, explaining that he had purchased his own vehicle around January, months before the constitutional amendment discussions.
Kargbo further dismissed claims that MPs had compromised their positions, saying Members of Parliament remained committed to representing the interests of the people.
He also said he had never personally met President Julius Maada Bio to discuss the constitutional amendment bill before its introduction or parliamentary debate.
The allegations of financial inducements and vehicles have emerged amid heightened political disagreements over the constitutional amendment process, with opposition figures continuing to question aspects of the process and the manner in which parliamentary support was secured.
