Edwina Hawa Jamiru has published a book titled The Love Story of Ms Edwina Hawa Jamiru and Justice Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens: A Survivor’s Journey from Betrayal to Reclaiming Her Life and Her Daughter.
The book chronicles Jamiru’s personal experience following her relationship with Justice Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens, whom she had accused of impregnating her and subsequently abandoning her.
Her claims led to a DNA test, which confirmed that Justice Momoh Jah Stevens is the biological father of the child.
According to Jamiru, her love for Momoh Jah Stevens was genuine, but she said the relationship eventually resulted in a deep sense of betrayal after her trust was broken.
She said the experience inspired her to document her journey in the book, while also sharing lessons she believes women and men can learn from her experience.
Among the lessons highlighted by Jamiru is the need for women to love themselves and avoid losing their identity in relationships. She encourages women never to love a man to the point where they lose themselves, nor to allow a partner to take their love for granted.
She also cautions women against forcing relationships to work, shrinking themselves to keep a man, or remaining in relationships that threaten their peace and mental well-being.
“Love yourself more than anybody else” is among the key messages in her book, as she urges women to choose themselves, maintain self-respect and become financially independent.
Jamiru further advises women to be cautious about becoming pregnant for a man who is not their husband, while encouraging them to empower themselves, make their own money and build independent lives.
She also advises women to choose partners who genuinely love and support them, saying they should walk away from relationships that destroy their peace and mental health. She equally warns women to be mindful of men she describes as narcissists.
For men, Jamiru calls for respect, love and fair treatment of their partners. She urges men not to look down on anyone and stresses that men should never abandon a girlfriend who is the mother of their child, or abandon their child.
She further argues that cheating can destroy relationships and encourages men to treat women with dignity and fairness.
The book also reflects Jamiru’s belief that betrayal can come from people who are trusted, leading her to caution readers about placing complete trust in others.
At the heart of her story is a message of self-worth, resilience and independence. Through her experience, Jamiru seeks to encourage women to value themselves, protect their peace, pursue financial independence and refuse to remain in relationships that undermine their dignity.
Her book therefore presents her personal experience not only as a story of heartbreak and betrayal, but also as what she describes as a journey towards reclaiming her life and her daughter.
