Sierra Leone’s Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Ministry of Internal Relations and Cooperation of South Africa on Friday, 24 February, 2023 signed a Visa-Waiver Agreement which seeks to waive off visa acquisition for people travelling to the two countries with Diplomatic and Service Passports.

The Visa-waiver agreement came into reality during a state visit by Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Professor David Francis to the Republic of South Africa.

Professor David Francis and South Africa’s Minister of Internal Relations and Cooperation, Dr Naledi Pandor during the agreement exchanged diplomatic notes on the establishment of diplomatic ties between the countries since August, 1998, and according to Prof. Francis serves as a motivation in heightening the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

The agreement between the two countries was a win for Sierra Leone and also aid movement in the African state and serve as a basis for advanced trade and investment opportunities between Sierra Leone and South Africa.

Both countries emphasised the need to increase and improved on what they produce, in education and in research development.
